Four feelings, four predictable mistakes
Emotions are not the enemy. They are information — usually about your position size, occasionally about your rules. The damage comes from acting on them without noticing you are.
Four recur, and each produces a specific, identifiable error.
Fear — of loss, and of missing out
Fear of loss shows up as closing winners early. You are up 1R, the position is comfortable, and banking it removes the discomfort. Do this consistently and a 1:3 system becomes a 1:1 system that still loses 55% of the time.
It also shows up as not taking valid setups after a losing run. The setup qualified; you skipped it. Over a hundred trades, skipping your losers *and* your winners at random leaves you with the cost and none of the edge.
Fear of missing out is the opposite and more expensive. Price runs without you, and you enter late — at a worse price, with a stop that no longer makes sense, in a position size chosen to compensate for lost time.
Every FOMO entry has the same signature: no plan existed for that trade thirty seconds earlier.
